Meet the Designers
Ken McLaughlin is a Certified Professional Building Designer, and designing homes has been his passion since he was seven years old. He has worked in Garland and Humble, Texas, in design, production, and as a building superintendent. He returned to Amarillo where he began Action Design Group in 1977. He became an active member of the Texas Panhandle Builders' Association right away, and has served on many boards and committees. He has designed houses in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Louisiana, and California. He also designs light commercial and multi-family projects. He has worked on several churches as well as offices and cottages for the High Plains Children's Home.
Kimberly Black is a Certified Professional Building Designer, trained by her dad, Ken McLaughlin. She has been designing for Action Design Group since 1987, producing plans for homes in seven states as well as a few light commercial projects. She has designed a few small apartments and a fun recycling center.
Lorna Smith is a design associate trained by her dad, Ken McLaughlin. She has worked for Action Design Group since 1997, and has worked on house plans in Amarillo and throughout the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma.
